Vicki started Review Without Peer in 2011 after serving for 10 years as a managing editor of a medical journal (Psychosomatic Medicine), a position she continues to hold. From 2013 to 2016, she served as Editor-in-Chief of the AMWA Journal, a quarterly publication for the 5,000 members of the American Medical Writers Association.
She has a background in newspaper journalism, having worked at the New York Times, the St. Petersburg Times, the Baltimore Sun, the Cambridge Chronicle, and the New Bedford Standard-Times. Before becoming involved in academic journal publishing, Vicki was a senior writer and editor in the communications office at the University of Florida Health Science Center.
She is a graduate of Tufts University (B.A. in English) and American University (M.A. in political science). She has long been active in the American Medical Writers Association because of the organization’s strong commitment to training medical writers and editors. She is a past president of AMWA’s Florida Chapter and has served on AMWA’s Executive Committee.
She is a Board-certified Editor in the Life Sciences, and a member of AMWA, the Council of Science Editors, and the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors. She was named a fellow of the American Medical Writers Association in 2010, in recognition of significant contributions to the goals and activities of AMWA and professional accomplishments.
